South Carolina: CB Akeem Auguste Injures Foot and Will Miss Opener
South Carolina starting cornerback Akeem Auguste missed the preseason with an injured foot. He returned to practice and injured his foot again.
“He was doing well, then he twisted it and hurt his foot again,” defensive backs coach Lorenzo Ward said. “We'll see an evaluation in the morning. I don't know if he reinjured to the point it was at first, but he was doing well and then all of a sudden he made a cut on it and hurt it again.”
Senior cornerback C.C. Whitlock will start in place for Auguste on the opener Saturday against East Carolina.
“I'm 100 percent sure that C.C., will start,” Ward said. “I think C.C. Has done fine. I think he's gotten better in this camp. Even coach Spurrier admitted that he's getting better, but he's got to make plays when they're there.”
Let's hope Auguste can make a speedy recovery.
