NFL, Oakland Raiders, Chad Ocho Cinco

I've been reading some articles lately about how apparently a lot of people believe that under some miracle, Chad Johnson will end up in Oakland.

I'm a huge Oakland fan, don't get me wrong—I bleed silver and black—but I'm also a pretty smart guy when it comes to sports. And the last place that Johnson will end up is in Oakland.

Now you might say that Oakland was able to trade and get Randy Moss. Yes, we were, but that was after Moss had his worst season in Minnesota and had all sorts of legal problems. It made more sense to get him out of town then to deal with all of his issues.

You also might bring up how the Patriots were able to get Moss after the '06 season. What they aren't going to say is that in '06 Moss had the worst season in his great career. He recorded only 42 receptions and only 553 yards—both career lows.

Now let's take a look at Chad Johnson's stats this year: 93 receptions and 1,440 yards. These stats are nowhere near either of the seasons that forced Moss to relocate. Chad Johnson is coming off what was probably his best season as a wide-out in the NFL.

Since Johnson had such a great season, the Raiders would have to give up a large amount of talent or draft picks to bring him into Oakland.

Let's face it; Davis isn't going to do this when they have either the third or fourth pick in the draft that they could invest in a great running back or on a decent position receiver.

  1. the raiders better option is to go hard at bernard berrian. But there is a slight chance the raiders would fight hard for chad Johnson.

    1. why does everyone want Chad Johnson. He is a bigger piece of crap than Moss. He proclaimed himself a future hall of famer. What has Chad Johnson ever done besides run his mouth. Also, why is everyone so in love with McFadden. We need DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE. Chris Long is who we should be screaming for. Long will be the foundation of our defense for 10-15 years just like daddy.

  2. Big fan of Raiders. But getting ocho cinco is going to be a big task.

    1. That's hilarious..You mean Randy Moss who just beat Jerry Rice's reception total??? You mean the guy who is playing in a SB with a highly favoured Pat's team? You mean just one season out of Oaktown? The PROBLEM is OAKTOWN, we turn gold into lead and while the cretin AL DAVIS is in charge we're screwed...
YES, TAKE JOHNSON, BEG HIM, OVER PAY HIM, dumb ass...

    2. for the record...randy moss beat jerry rice's TOUCHDOWN RECEPTIONS

  3. did think randy moss would be a raider...didnt think warren sapp would be a raider...if Al wants em..he'll get em.

  4. Well for one Warren Sapp was a free agent so he could go anywhere. Two Moss ended up in Oakland because.. well frankly the vikings just wanted him the hell out of town. The Bengals haven't reached that point with Johnson...yet

  5. mcfadden ,briggs ,and hayneworth.....playoff bound

  6. I think Oakland will try to sign Bernard Berrian. And if they trade for a WR, I think they will go after Roy Williams (who is rumored Detroit want to trade)

I dont think Oakland will get Johnson, and he will be much more difficult to get than Roy Williams

  7. go after berrian and haynesworth in fa. then trade down with a team for a possible 1 and 2 get the miami saftey in the first trade your 3 for roy williams and with the 2 you can probably end up with someone like mario manningham from michigan. hey you never know al has a few tricks up his crazy sleeve.

  8. how could you not take McFadden if he is availble? Agree on Berriman & Haynesworth via FA.

  9. mcfadden. mcfadden. mcfadden. let's get over this mcfadden crap already. if i am the raiders there is absolutely no possible situation in which i take mcfadden. we had 3 different running backs rush for over 100yds in a game, not exactly something we need. not to mention the 2 bar fights Dmac got i himself into the past year. only 4 options for the raiders in the first round and they are C. Long, J. Long, Dorsey and Ellis. if we could trade down to like 10th for a 3rd rounder and grab Ellis that would be the absolute best situation for the raiders.

  10. Let's look at this reasonably please!. Chad Johnson could be a Raider, but only if M.Brown at Cinncinati cut's him, or he is so resided to not extending his contract that he will give him away like Corey Dillon for a fourth rounder to the Pats. Roy Williams is a very likely possibility, because A. Matt Millen is NOT! the brightest bunny in the box, and B. the Fords are some of the dumbest owners in football history. Williams might be had for less than a 1st rounder, rescent history shows that one cannot let it to the press if you want high round compensation in the draft. I have heard from a reliable source that Millen is interested in Curry & Sims with a pick for Roy, that would be a steal. Free agency we should tread lightly, and smartly. Instead of trying to make a giant splash, let's make a lot of small ones with personnel to cover a number of issues. Offense: Let's say we get Roy in one of Als' "how did he do that" trades, resign Fargas, Newberry, Kelly, Clemons, Cooper. Players that need releasing or possibly you can get compensation for, Jordan, Grove, Sims, Brayton, Warren, Curry and last but not least Schweigert!. the free agents to look at are berrian(chi), and D.Carter(car), OT Jake Scott(indy),or Starks(pit), or Locklear(sea), TE S.Ryan (nyj) Stepanovich a OL (cinn), and on defense Starks(tenn) a DT, Briggs(chi)OLB and either saftey M.Doss (minn) or K.Hamlin (dal). These types of moves allow R.Ryan to run the 3-4 Blitz defense he wants, we don't break the bank and most important allows us to draft Glenn"Big Daddy"Dorsey at DT!!!. Not Howies boy or McFadden, it's DORSEY we need. Two studs Russell and Dorsey to lead for the next ten years.

  11. I know this sounds Crazy but a pal of mine, who works with the Lions is telling me that both Roy Williams(WR), and Shawn Rodgers(DT), can be had for cheap!. I was told that the Lions have interest in the following players in Oaktown. Curry-wr, Grove-c, Sims-ot, Warren-dt, and Schweigert-fs. My friend says that Ford is so resided to parting ways with Roy and Shawn we could get them without giving up a pick. Also it must be stated that Chad Johnson wants out and Mike Brown(GM) dosen't want to pay him and does not care for him antics on the field, and with everyday Chad goes on T.V. that lowers the Bengals possibility of reasonable high pick compensation, much it did in regards to Randy Moss last year. These are real possibilities.

  12. I would trade all of those guys but Warren for Rodgers and Williams, but I'd still go after Dorsey or Ellis. Dorsey, Rodgers, Warren, Sands, Kelly, Burgess, Richardson, and Clemons on the DLine is terrifying. Williams would allow Porter to play against the other teams' #2 corner. The key component in that deal is that they HAVE to take Schweigert, he's gotta go.

  13. Sims & Curry & Draft Pick (likely round 6) will be great for Roy Williams, though I like Curry as a possesion WR2/WR3.

Still, I think we can get Roy Williams for our second rounder (pick 34/35). San Diego gave a second rounder (pick 57) to Miami to get Chambers.

    If we have:
    #1 Roy Williams
#2 Jerry Porter (nowbody will give him a star contract, and he made some very spectacular catches this year despite of losing speed)
#3 Ronald Curry (very good for a WR3, possesion WR)
#4 J. Lee Higgins (as somebody to develop)
I think we will be more than done at WR.

    1. Ok. I can follow this reasoning except the scenario where we package Curry in the trade. If you bring in R. Williams, great! Now, who is the #2 wr?Tim Dwight? Higgins isn't # 2 caliber yet, if he ever will be. There is a big drop off after Curry. I'm leaving the Jerry Porter aspect of this scenario out, because while I agree that he will not get the kind of money he wants or feels he deserves, he will not play for Raiders next season. He wants out of Oakland and will take less money if necessary, and go to another team. Any other team. So I think your 2nd scenario is more likely. Unless we can land Berrian as well.

  14. we dont need mcfadden. we have michael bush waiting in the background this guy could be huge. fargas had over 1000 yards and started only 7 or 8 games and rhodes is pretty good as well. RB is not our number 1 priority and picking up chris long doesnt make sense either since we have burgess at one side. we need a dt bad. if we can get haynesworth before the draft then we should pick up jake long or maybe chris long opposite of burgess. with the second pick we pick up the safety from the U cause schweigert sucks. trade to get another 2nd round pick and pick up a WR or try for roy williams.

  15. look to straighten all you guys out we keep fargas bush and rhodes at the back trade sims curry for johnson go after a guy like k.robinson from GB for the 3rd receiver keep dwight to return.and about the draft we are set at the DT position with warren sands and richardson we don't need haynesworth who by the way is injury prone we need a guy like chris long opposite burgess and clemons as the backup we can trade kelly and shweigert to DAL for 1 of their 1st round picks and get a guy like sam baker from SC then in the 2nd round a guy like e.henderson from maryland.to fix the safety position there is a guy in DEN who can fit that roll if they don't resign him and that guy is john lynch if not i would go after ken hamlin from DAL and thomas decoud from CAL in the draft.

  16. K.Robinson at #3? who do you have at # 2 ( and remember most reports have Porter gone ) J.L.Higgins? K.Robinson only has 5 TDs in the last 4 years (1 rushing ) and only cracked 30 receptions once in the last 4 years. NO THANKS! At RB you want Fargus, who has an injury history that rivals any in football, with Bush, a forth round gamble, who nobody knows if he can cut it in the N.F.L. yet.

  17. we need 2 big dt. get dorsey. run the 3-4 and with our speed at de/lb grab a safefty/lb hybrd. they will never know whows coming on the blizt. get guys that have attitude with speed and smarts. we stole m.bush in last years draft. we don't need rb's. today's game is about speed with a ko punch. i am 57 and also a season ticket holder. my first football game was at Frank Yuell Field. i was 12 years old back then. Cooper is exactly what we need at every pos.on that field. 11 angry men.

  18. We would have to have a 3rd rounder first, before we could trade it to Detroit for Roy Williams; not that they would make that trade anyways, but I thought I'd point out that one problem with your scenario.

    Cerberus

  19. So you claim to be a Raider fan eh?

If that's true....then why don't you know that what Al Davis wants...Al Davis usually gets if it's at all in his power...But I don't remember hearing AL say anything about Johnson one way or the other, have you?

And just because Moss had a good season and is going to a SB...doesn't make him any less of a jerk than he was at Oakland or any less of a quitter for that matter.
He's quit on 2 of the 3 teams he's played for, he just hasn't reached that point for number 3 yet, that's all.
The only thing that will save the Patsies from facing the same thing that the Viking and Raiders did is the fact that Moss is in the weaning years of his career, and he might just hang'em up before he puts the shaft to them.
But one thing is for sure....
With the reputation Moss has, and the way the HOF Committee, is the last 20 years have been adding jerks to the HOF....he's sure a first ballot inductee, unlike some that are great players, and best ever at their jobs on the field and great citizens off the field that they keep passing over.

  20. Berrian sucks Hainsworth would be good

  21. raiders need a run stopper.use bush and rhoades for running.i like the roy williams idea.

  22. Lions and Raiders will make a deal. So many needs...where do you start? Just don't make another mistake like Jmac!!! He's a waist, should have traded for another pick, he is going to take sooooooooooooooooooo long to get use too the NFL. Can anyone say VicYoung?

  23. Cinci IS tired of Chad, they tried to pin the bad season on him, not a smart move. Now he wants out and says he will sit out next year if a trade doesnt happen. Chad wants to come here. Rudi was dinged up for most the year, and we have Lamont who was having a great year (leading the league in rushing early in season) before falling outta favor with the coaching staff. We also have Michael Bush, and Dominic Rhodes, and can resign Fargas if needed. Cinci is prolly deepest at reciever and have either resigned Housh or said they will. We are deep at RB and can make a decent trade offer, i see this trade as a real possibilty...

I dont like Roy only because he has misses a lot of games due to injury, he is a hell of a player, but I would take Chad over him anyday of the week. Chad is Raider type player, confident, outspoken, entertaining, and backs it all up on teh field!

  24. Berrian, Williams, Shawn Rodgers, Haynesworth, and McFadden.

  25. take c.long, or dorsey with first pic (if available) . Take Mcfadden only if you think you can get a good player in a trade with draftpicks, and this would make sense if who you wanted initially is off the board when you pic. WR is a desperate need, Safety is a need. As stated with the first possible pics, defensive line is a need. I am not opposed to chad, u just might have to go out of your way to keep him happy. Someone wrote off Jruss....Eli was also written off too once. He is a Champion now. Only an idiot would assume a QB coming straight out of college would mean instant success. Those will be the same idiots you will here "HE"S GREAT" if success comes to him. IDIOTS> u know who u are. idiots :).

  26. Thats why you don't draft QBs in the first round with the first pick, we were in last place for a reason...CAn anyone remember the last QB last taken one overall...Yeah idiots...huh? or how about the one before him? Yeah thought so....Is that guy even playing football anymore??? Idiots huh...well see, Jmac has special abilities like jumping in the air and throwing like a retarded...or fumbling the ball while tripping for no apparent reason...So whos the idiot....

  27. your right he does suck maybe he be in tcamp this yr. OAKTOWN PEACE!

  28. Russel hasn't even been tested well enough to say rather he will be a good Quarterback or not. The only reason he got playing time last year was because our season was done he got garbage time. This isnt the kind of time a young quarterback should be judged on, he came in at a point in the season were the Raiders had basically given up. The O-line was banged up and didnt really care about playing their hearts out because they were already in double digits in the loss column and the playoffs weren't even in sight. So before you judge the kid let him play in some games that actually matter. Like the start of this new season.

  29. chad johnson is a loud mouth nd he does talk a lot of crap, but he is an entertainer the fans would love and he has the raider attitude
