Notre Dame fans are ready to watch Dane Crist lead the Fighting Irish against South Florida. Last season, Crist passed for 2,033 yards and had 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Irish were 8-5 overall and capped off the season by beating the Miami Hurricanes in the Hyundai Sun Bowl.

B.J. Daniels is the signal caller for the South Florida Bulls and stated in a recent interview: "I think we have a lot of potential". The team was 8-5 last year and beat Clemson in the Meineke Car Care Bowl by a score of 31-26.

The Irish were 23rd in overall defense last year and 67th in offense, while the Bulls were 22nd in defense and 85th in offense.

Neither team had a running back that eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark, although Notre Dame can boast that they had a 1,000 yard receiver in Michael Floyd who was reinstated on August 3.

The game will be played on the tradition rich home field of the Irish. Home field advantage is a good thing in any sport. I have the Irish winning this one with a slight edge over the Bulls.

I predict Notre Dame will win 28-24.
