Most teams will go ahead and schedule a big out of conference game to help make up for the lack of strength of the rest of their schedule. In the case of Alabama, scheduling a game against Penn State goes above and beyond what they need to do.

When playing in the SEC, strength of schedule is something that teams rarely worry about. For Alabama, they have a game against Penn State today but that is just the start of things. The Tide get to look forward to the following games:

  • North Texas
  • Arkansas
  • at Florida
  • Vanderbilt
  • at Ole Miss
  • Tennessee
  • LSU
  • at Mississippi State
  • Georgia Southern
  • at Auburn

From start to finish, Alabama has to contend with big games. They open the SEC schedule with a game against Arkansas and then head to Florida for a game against the Gators.

Things do not stop there. Towards the middle of the conference schedule, Bama has to contend with games against Tennessee and LSU but they have the benefit of them being at home.

To wrap things up, Alabama will head on the road to take on Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Crimson Tide players and fans are well aware of how the Tigers defeated them last year and will be chomping at the bit to get back at their rivals.

No matter how you cut it, Bama has a tough road in front of them but should they manage to get through it unscathed, they will be playing for the national title.
