LSU Football: Season Outlook Now That Jordan Jeffesron Is Arrested
Before the season started and all these incidents didn't occur, the LSU Tigers were a favorite to not only win the SEC but a possible National Championship.
Fast forward to this month and they will now be playing with a backup quarterback, one of their top receivers in Russell Shepard is out, and there are questions about an incident that involved Zach Mettenberger.
I still believe the quarterback situation is fine. Jordan Jefferson was never really a good quarterback to begin with and Jarrett Lee or Mettenberger could fill in fine for this offense. The only thing they'll miss is the experience. As far as making plays, they may actually improve rather than take a step backwards.
Losing Russell Shepard is a huge loss considering him and Rueben Randle are really the only experienced receivers on the team. This will require other receivers like Jarvis Landry, James Wright, Deangelo Peterson and Kadron Boone to step up bigger than ever.
This offense is going to take time to jell and is going to look different but it could be a lot worse. The quarterbacks have potential and they are still deep at the running back position.
This defense will also be able to keep the Tigers in games. LSU returns seven starters from a defense that only gave up 18 points a game last season.
With a brutal schedule ahead of them and drama surrounding the team it's going to be a difficult task but LSU has the talent to possibly pull it off.
