SEC Expansion: Even After Texas A&M Headache, There's Still No 14th Team
The addition of Texas A&M to the SEC would leave the conference at an uneven 13 teams. It simply does not make any sense for the conference to not add a 14th team.
But who is it going to be?
Missouri has been mum on the whole situation considering their chancellor is the chairman of the Big 12 board, the ACC appears to be steady and the Pac-12 is courting Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and possibly Texas and Texas Tech.
Who else is going to join the conference? There just are not many teams left in the geographic footprint of the SEC who are willing to leave their current conference.
The SEC will be forced to sit and wait while the other conferences make their moves and hopefully cause enough instability to snatch up a team like Virginia Tech or Missouri.
Until then, it is just going to be a continuous headache for the SEC.
