SEC Football: Texas A&M to SEC Appears Imminent, Will Virginia Tech Be Next?

Now that Texas A&M has done everything except be formally accepted into the SEC, the question becomes whether the conference will add more teams to balance out the addition of the Aggies.
It may not happen immediately but the SEC would be foolish not to eventually add one or three teams to keep the leagues balanced.
There has been an unbelievable amount of speculation as to who the 14th member would be but the most logical choice would be Virginia Tech based on the combination of television markets, geographical footprint, level of play and school spirit.
As I wrote before, the Hokies were not really considering a conference move but that was before the Miami scandal.
Either Miami will get kicked out of the conference or the ACC’s reputation will be further tarnished. Virginia Tech comes out a loser either way because no reasonable replacement for Miami would be at the same level as the Hurricanes.
The Hokies have become the class of the ACC while Florida State has been rebuilding and they can either make a conference move or hope for the best to unfold with the Miami scandal.
But regardless of if Virginia Tech wants to move, it will in all likelihood be one of the main schools talked about for SEC expansion.
