NASCAR's Sprint Cup series is headed to the Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend. And that means racing fans are in for a treat. This race brings the best that short track racing has to offer and it is always entertaining.
Bristol is a half-mile oval rounded with high banks. The bankings on the corner range from 24 to 30 degrees.
That makes for a blazing half-mile track and sets up for thrilling racing. Adding to the depth of drama in this race is the fact that it is the third to last race before the field for the Sprint Chase for the Cup is set.
Tempers have already been running high. As drivers take on the high stakes of Chase positioning, they are going to be pushing and bumping their way around this track as they try to gain valuable positions. It is never a surprise to see a fight or seven in the pits at Bristol.
These factors combine to make this the toughest ticket to get in all of NASCAR.
Any way you like at this race, Kyle Busch is defending his victory. He claimed his fourth of the season last week at Michigan, and he took the checkered at Bristol in 2010. That was the final of his three wins in 2010.
