The Backdoor Cover: Fearless NFL Predictions
Doesn’t the lockout seem so long ago?
We were so innocent then, just children hoping to see a few football games this calendar year. Now look at us, complaining about the new NFL kickoff rules, why Pete Carroll is so stubborn with Tarvaris Jackson and how Tim Tebow went from sexy fantasy sleeper to holding Brady Quinn’s jockstrap.
In other words, back to normal.
With the season just a few short weeks away, we here at The Hazean would like to give our extremely educated guesses on how the season will unfold. If it doesn’t go according to plan, then these picks will be here for public ridicule.
Speaking of ridicule, if you have a few minutes to kill and enjoy watching videos of Epic Fails then click this link. It’s the kind of video that both myself and my two-year-old son can enjoy together. Quality Time!
Division Winners: New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, San Diego Chargers
Wild Card: Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens
I think this is the year the Texans make the leap past the Colts. The other division winners are no surprises. The major point of contention is that I have the NYJ missing the playoffs. I feel that they have been rather lucky the past two years and that it’s time for the Ravens (with the help of CIN/CLE twice) to take the last Wild Card birth. The Chargers could win the AFC West blindfolded.
Division Winners: Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, St. Louis Rams
Wild Card: New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys
The closest race should be the competitive NFC South. I gave the nod to the Falcons based upon their offense which I expect to be high scoring this year. The biggest omission are the New York Giants. After the first part of the season, their schedule is brutal and the Cowboys have enough firepower to move past them. The Packers have the benefit of no major contenders in the North so they should cruise. In the West, I’ll go with the team that appears to be on upswing. Despite the fact that they have Sylvester Croom on staff, they can get the job done. Here is my favorite Sylvester Croom memory.
Pittsburgh Steelers OVER Philadelphia Eagles
I hate to jump on the PHI bandwagon, but I think they make it through the NFC. Playing in the toughest division in the NFC should prepare them for the playoffs. I think the Steelers are going to win it all though. Solid in all facets, they almost came close last season.
Tired of staring at unused piles of cash around your house? Wish you knew some NFL teams win/loss records to put some future bets on? I’m here to help both of those problems with bets that will cash. In no time we will be winning money like we are printing it, but in the meantime I like to put in some season long bets to monitor.
Vegas predicts how many games each NFL team will win, the bet is either OVER that number or UNDER that number. See, Vegas assumes everyone who bets wants the action to resemble a Price is Right game.
