Whenever you have family members in a competitive environment the debate will always erupt over who is better. People always want to compare and choose their side, whether it's Eli v. Peyton Manning, Benji v. Yadier v. Jose Molina, Matt v. Jeff Hardy.

Being avid wrestling fans, Daris Brown and I decided to tackle the debate over the brothers of Team Xtreme. Daris had the privilege of writing about Jeff (click link to read his take), while I took older brother Matt.

There is no denying that the brothers are two of the most "over" entertainers in the wrestling world. Both brothers have what is almost a cult following and despite never winning the big one, both can garner reactions rivaling more top-tier talent.

The brothers were such wrestling fanatics, the started their own wrestling league dubbed TWF (Trampoline Wrestling Federation) and would later open up there own promotion OMEGA Wrestling. OMEGA would be the home of future MF'er Shannon Moore, and other WWE superstars, Gregory Helms and Joey Matthews.

Many may not remember the pre-Hardy Boyz days when Matt Hardy would show up every now and then in the then WWF to do "jobs" (that is wrestling vernacular for losing). Matt began his jobbing days in 1994 and he and Jeff didn't officially become WWE[F] superstars until 1998.

Matt can get extreme too...

When the brothers started they wrestled a faster, high-paced match that was filled with aerial spots. Jeff may be better known for his high-flying ways but do not forget that Matt did climb the turnbuckles. The brothers would do simultaneous attacks from the top rope on a prone opponent. This is where Matt showed his head.

Instead of living off the top rope, Matt became more grounded thus able to reduce the risk of injury. High-flyers are always prone to injury and other than a 2004 knee injury, last year's appendix issue or his release, when has Matt been out of action?

This does not mean that Matt doesn't get up anymore. He'll still give you his battle cry as he climbs up to deliver an elbow or leg drop (Don't forget the 2005 Unforgiven leg drop off the top of the cage).

Matt's stable...

I previously mentioned Shannon Moore as a MF'er, which stood for Mattitude Follower. In 2003, Matt went from RAW to Smackdown and became Matt Hardy, Version 1. Matt would have little Matt Facts that appeared on his Titantron video (Matt Hardy tans with only a sock. Matt doesn't like speed bumps. Etc.).
