Countless names have been mentioned in Liverpool-related transfer rumours this summer. One name that was featured a lot in those talks was that of Juan Mata, a Valencia winger who was reportedly chased heavily by the Anfield club.
Mata is a 23-year-old wideout who has appeared in 129 league games for Valencia in the past four seasons, scoring 33 goals. He was also a member of the Spanish World Cup winning team.
Liverpool were looking for a top class left winger at the beginning of the summer, and Mata was reported to be manager Kenny Dalglish's first choice. The signing of Stewart Downing in July all but ended any speculation. He had also been chased by Arsenal.
The deal is at a reported £23.5 million. It is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms.
