For those of you who thought DWI's were only excluded to football, basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey, tennis, wrestling and golf carts, three-time Kentucky Derby winner Calvin Borel showed on Saturday that horse racing can't be left out.

Borel reportedly was arrested for a drunk driving charge on Saturday night in Indiana as he pulled into the parking lot of the motel where he was staying.

The 44-year-old, who won the Derby with Super Saver in 2010, Mine that Bird in 2009 and Street Sense in 2007, reportedly was released on $100 bail this morning from the Vanderburgh County Jail in Evansville after spending a night in the slammer.

This is just another example of the apparent propensity for athletes to get into trouble with the law while drinking. It makes you wonder if feeling on top of the world goes beyond the boundaries of the playing field and into real life. It makes you wonder if the rules of everyday society oftentimes go ignored in the sports world, where athletes drive fast Ferraris and become immersed in their own worlds.

What's next for Borel?

For starters, his agent Jerry Hissam has pulled him off his scheduled mounts on Sunday at Ellis Park in nearby Henderson, Kentucky.

He also has a court date on Monday.

Jockey Faith Schorr was just fined $250 and suspended for 60 days for failing to provide a valid urine sample, and suspended 14 more days for careless racing at Thistledown.

The least Borel can probably expect is a week suspension. It's possible he will receive an indefinite suspension for the time being.

For a jockey with such a great track record, this is clearly going to leave a mark.
