The Izod IndyCar Series returns to Infineon Raceway for this weekend's Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma. This is a place where Will Power has some good and bad memories.

Just two years ago Power was part of a freak accident that hospitalized him with a concussion, fractures of the L2 and L4 vertebrae, and some chipped teeth.

It happened in a morning practice session where Nelson Philippe, driving for Conquest Racing, spun off of turn 3A, catching Power by surprise as he came up the hill and causing a blind hit on Philippe.

It was a scary incident that could have been even more serious, and both drivers are very lucky to be alive today.  Power returns to try and gain more ground on points leader Dario Franchitti this weekend.

Power is the defending champion at Sonoma with a comeback win last year. He started on the pole and dominated the Grand Prix. His only other start there came in 2008 where he finished a disappointing 25th place.

Power will try and erase the memories of 2009 and build off what he did in Sonoma last year.
