Preseason College Football Rankings 2011: Oklahoma Tops Number One in Top Five
Down to the top five, all teams have the same capability to obtain BCS Bowl bids and make the biggest splashes in their conferences. They are as follows:
5. Boise State
Oklahoma will be led by quarterback Landry Jones, who came onto the scene as a freshman after the injury of Heisman winner Sam Bradford. They are the Big Dog of the Big XII
Alabama will return plenty of talent on defense and a playmaker in running back Trent Richardson, but they must sort out their quarterback competition.
Oregon continues to be Oregon under Chip Kelly, and their fast paced offense isn't looking to slow down with quarterback Devin Thomas and running back LaMichael James. Their biggest loss was Casey Matthews on defense, and they must become more consistent on the defensive side of the ball.
LSU loses two receivers on offense, but returns a steady, strong defense. The question is: can Jefferson perform as expected, and can he take LSU to the top of the SEC West?
5. Boise State's one loss last season kept them out of a BCS Bowl, and they showed it with their 26-3 smashing of Utah in their bowl game. With the return of Heisman hopeful Kellen Moore, Boise must find weapons at receiver with the losses of Titus Young and Austin Pettis. The Broncos have no room for error. As see last year, one loss knocked them out completely.
