Henry Lundy Earns Brutal KO over Former Manny Pacquiao Opponent David Diaz
The Friday Night Fights season finale started with a bang when "Hammerin Hank" Henry Lundy (21-2-1, 11 KO) knocked out former WBC welterweight champion David Diaz (36-4-1, 17 KO) in Round 6 of their lightweight bout.
Lundy was knocked down in Round 4 but was able to get up and survive long enough to open a cut on Diaz's eye due to an accidental headbutt.
Lundy returned with a knockdown of his own in Round 6 when he landed a devastating left hand on the chin of a bloodied and beaten Diaz, who was immediately knocked down and out as he fell to the canvas.
Lundy came into the fight on a two-fight win streak since losing for the first time in his career to John Molina in July, 2010.
Diaz was the much more experience of the two, having fought pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and other boxing champions, including Erik Morales and Humberto Soto.
Diaz's biggest moment came when he defeated Morales in 2007 to win the WBC welterweight championship. The Pacquiao fight occurred in 2008 where "Pacman" won by knockout in Round 8. A unanimous decision loss to Soto also followed.
Friday Night Fights has produced the majority of the biggest upsets, knockouts and fights of 2011.
This is a great way to end the season.
