Bob Baffert looks to win the Grade 1 at Saratoga with Plum Pretty

A very good field of six fillies are entered for the feature race at Saratoga tomorrow, the $500,000 Grade One Alabama.

It's Tricky is the heavy morning line favorite at 9-5, with Eddie Castro.  This five time winner is undefeated with Catstro and looks to continue her winning ways, which has seen her win two Grade One races in a row.

Bob Baffert ships in Plum Pretty and this three-year-old appears to be the main speed in this ten furlong race.  In her last start, It's Tricky caught Plum Pretty, so the added distance doesn't seem to be in her favor.

Royal Delta has three wins in five career starts but her last race was a clunker, a seven length loss over the main track at Saratoga.  I like both recent works but I don't see this Bill Mott trained horse winning.

Pinch Pie has three career wins but all three have been on the turf.  Winless in four dirt starts, this 15-1 long shot only appears to be the horse that will pressure Plum Pretty.

Inglorious has five career wins and a win at ten furlongs but this is another horse that seems to be over matched.  All five wins have been over the synthetic surface and both losses on the natural dirt.  She's a heavy closer and a speed duel early will help.

St. John's River is my pick to win.  Currently listed at 5-1, this talented filly was just short in her last race, losing by a neck to Plum Pretty at nine furlongs.  The added distance should be beneficial to her.  As with Inglorious,  faster early fractions only help her chances.

St. John's River over It's Tricky in 2:02.1.  Plum Pretty will be game but I really don't think the distance suits her, so I'll wheel all for third underneath the top two.
