Who is going to start for the Wolverines? Ever since Saturday's huge win over Minnesota the thing that has been on everyone's mind. Well Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez answered that today.
Rodriguez reported today that redshirt sophomore Nick Sheridan, after leading Michigan over a favored Minnesota team, is going to get another chance at starting for the Wolverines. Giving him a shot at another potential upset.
Redshirt freshman Steven Threet who was out with a concussion for the Minnesota game will split time with Sheridan.
"He practiced," Rodriguez said of Threet. "He was (limited) in a green jersey so he wasn't considered full go, but our quarterbacks don't get hit anyway now (in practice). He should be able to go Saturday, we think. Nick will start.
"Steve missed a little time and I want to make sure Steve is ready to go completely, not only from a health standpoint but from a concept standpoint [of] what we're doing. Both of them played well in their last starts, so it's not an issue of one guy is playing better than the other. It's just Nick has practiced more than Steve the last couple of weeks."
I don't know about the rest of the Wolverines fans out there but this is not something I'm looking forward to. Michigan's offense has looked much better when they have had one Quarterback running it exclusively. Rodriguez tends to throw in a fresh QB right as the offense's rhythm starts to get going and ruins it.
Rodriguez also added that freshman Justin Feagin would play the same role he did last week. Rotating three QBs sounds to me like we are headed for a train wreck. What do you think?

As you said, I think whoever gets the go at the beginning of the game should be the QB throughout, regardless of how Michigan is doing. I can't say with certainty that it was really the offense that looked good last week instead of Minnesota's defense looking stale but I think Sheridan partly redeemed himself in my book.

Yeah, word is that he has looked fantastic in practice all year but it never transfers over in the game. One thing we can say was his throws were definitely on target on Saturday.

I like Sheridan, so we'll see how he does. If he's incapable, then toss Threet in there. Still, I think we match up with NU well, and a victory is quite possible. Go blue.

I really think we take this game. Expecially since Northwestern is so run heavy and our D-line has looked fantastic. It all depends if Sheridan can do the job.

The thing is Northwestern is missing Tyrelle Sutton (who lit us up a few years back), and backup RB Omar Conteh too. They had to move a receiver to backup the new RB.

Hopefully Sheridan will do well starting, and we will get a big lead and not have to worry about throwing the ball too much. But, if we get behind, I trust Threet much more to throw the ball around and run the two minute drill. I wouldn't mind bringing in Threet for a change, when you need a big bomb, or want to throw it more. But as long as Sheridan is competent throwing, running, and handing the ball off, let him go. Maybe get Threet in just to get him in there and make sure he can play with the concussion and all.

I'm not sure if I would trust Threet especially if that elbow is still bothering him. Sheridan looked extremely accurate Saturday and would've had even ,ore impressive stats had it not been for a couple of missed catches. Thanks for the comment.

Great article. Nick has looked impressive so far this season. With a few more seasons under his belt he should be a solid player for the Wolverines.
