Republic of Ireland team captain Robbie Keane made his Major League Soccer debut on Saturday, Aug. 20 for Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy, and helped defeat the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Keane scored in the 21st minute of play off a through ball from David Beckham. Mike Magee added an insurance goal in the 90th minute.
The Galaxy are now 14-3-9 (51` points) and inch closer to a successful defense of their MLS Supporters' Shield (given to the team with the best regular season record). Frank Yallop's Earthquakes drop to 5-10-10 (25 points).
