According to reports, the much-anticipated clash between Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (29-1-1) and Marcos “El Chino” Maidana (30-2-0) has been cancelled due to a shoulder injury sustained by Guerrero during a sparring session.

After Guerrero’s hard-fought victory over Michael Katsidis (28-4-0) and Maidana’s much-deserved triumph over Erik Morales (51-7-0), their fight was much looked forward to with many people expecting a real war in the ring.

Both Maidana and Guerrero can be toe-to-toe fighters, providing many explosive moments in their fights.

There is still no information about the nature and severity of Guerrero’s shoulder injury, but an official statement should be coming soon. Depending on what the MRI shows, we may be in for a long wait before these two meet in the ring.

Let’s hope this is just a minor injury that will require no surgical intervention and little time to heal.
