NASCAR drivers are never ones to hold back their feelings. Stock car racing can raise the tempers of even the most mild-mannered drivers. Drivers are on-edge because of their protection for their cars, their team and themselves.

This season has been no different as there have been several altercations before and after races involving drivers.

Here is a list of the top five scuffles during the 2011 NASCAR season. As you can see, you'll find a family that seems to keep getting into the action.

Kevin Conway vs. Robbie Gordon

In the lead up to the Kobalt Tools 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Robbie Gordon and Kevin Conway got into it.

Kevin Conway had this to say: “On Friday night, Robby Gordon...decided to ambush me in the garage area at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, completely unprovoked. Robby even confronted Joe Nemechek, my car owner, on pit road during Cup series qualifying, shoving him and telling him that he was looking for me and going to assault me.

“We have many witnesses, including a crew chief that signed a police report documenting the truth of his physical attack on me,” Conway’s statement continued.

“Situations like this are not good for our sport. It’s one thing if we were racing each other and I wrecked him or he wrecked me, that’s an entirely different situation," Conway stated. "It’s very unfortunate that he chose to physically attack me to address his rage. Our fans, sponsors and NASCAR expect and deserve more from our competitors than this bullish, illegal behavior that was displayed by Robby against me.”

This press release was given by Robby Gordon Motorsports following the incident: "Kevin Conway and Robby Gordon had a heated exchange in the garage area this past weekend arising from Conway's and his sponsor ExtenZe's failure to pay RGM several hundred thousand dollars that they owe for promotional and driving benefits they received from participating in a series of NASCAR Sprint Cup races with cars prepared and supported by RGM."

Robby Gordon was placed on probation for the remaining 2011 NASCAR season. Kevin Conway was not penalized. If only cameras had caught the action.

Boris Said vs. Greg Biffle

Boris Said v. Greg Biffle

Last Monday's race at Watkins Glen was not short of headlines. One of the biggest was the scuffle and war of words between road racer Boris Said and NASCAR regular Greg Biffle.

Said had choice words for Biffle after the race, "He is the most unprofessional little scaredy cat I've ever seen in my life. He wouldn't even fight me like a man after. So if someone texts me his address, I'll go see him Wednesday at his house and show him what he really needs."

Boris was not shy about his reaction to Biffle following the race as you can see in the video. However, cooler heads would prevail later in the week as the two reconciled.

Fans are probably disappointed because they wanted to see the old veterans slug it out.

Kurt Busch vs. Jimmie Johnson

Johnson v. Busch at Pocono

Kurt Busch—the brother of fellow bad boy Kyle Busch.

This time Jimmie Johnson was mad at the other Busch: Kurt. It is no secret that Busch's and Jimmie Johnson are not friends. Fact is they never will be. The two rivals mixed it up after Pocono.

Johnson had this to say, "We all know we come off of Turn 1 and Kurt gets to me to side-draft me (to perform a pass)," Johnson said. "I try to break the side-draft and then from there, he felt it was necessary to run into the side of my car and tear my car up."

Johnson then added, "At the end of the day, I'm not going to let him run his mouth at me. That's just kind of how it is."

Busch was very calm when asked about the incident days later and responded with, “It’s great. It means that I’m in his head, and if I’m in his head, he’s got to worry about us running through this Chase.”

These two are not happy with each other and are two of NASCAR's best drivers. This should lead to an amazing storyline as the chase for the Cup heats up.

Kyle Busch vs. Kevin Harvick

Harvick v. Busch

After the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway earlier this year, it wasn't winner Regan Smith who got the most attention. It was the wild dust up between Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick.

Harvick was extremely upset with Busch because he thought he was intentionally wrecked late in the race.

Following the race, Harvick got out of his car to confront Busch. Instead of talking to him, he shoved Harvick's car out of the way.

Busch then roared into the garage and climbed from his car as angry No. 29 team members tried to get at him. The RCR crewmen pointed fingers and screamed at Busch as he ducked into the No. 18 hauler.

Suddenly, Harvick showed up. Harvick was a man on a mission to find Busch, but two NASCAR officials blocked the entrance.

The dust then settled somewhat until they met with NASCAR officials. This night in Darlington sure had some fireworks.

Kyle Busch vs. Richard Childress

Kyle Busch v. Richard Childress

Busch appears again on the list after he got into his second argument this season at Kansas Speedway. He has had quite the season thus far.

He currently is tied for the Sprint Cup lead in points with Carl Edwards. Off the track, he has been noticeable as well.

Following his Kevin Harvick argument, Busch was confronted by team owner Richard Childress. These do not help your public image. Not to mention his speeding ticket of 128 mph in a 45 mph zone, just days before the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

This incident occurred earlier this year after a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway. Team owner Richard Childress was reportedly upset because Kyle Busch made contact with RCR Truck Series Driver Joey Coulter on the cool-down lap in Kansas.

According to several people with direct knowledge of an altercation, Kyle Busch was put into a headlock and punched several times by famed team owner Richard Childress before falling to the ground.

NASCAR president Mike Helton said Kyle Busch did nothing to provoke Richard Childress or violate his own probation during the altercation.

"The penalty we have announced today for Richard Childress reflects NASCAR's response to the incident at Kansas Speedway on Saturday," NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said in a statement on Monday afternoon. "We feel this action is appropriate and are confident all parties involved understand our position on this matter and will move forward appropriately."

Childress has been placed on probation until December 31st for violating a NASCAR rule of "actions detrimental to stock car racing." Tharp says that the probation includes all NASCAR sanctioned events.
