Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy aimed to put their best foot forward when they take on Ramon Maradiaga's C.D. Motagua tonight at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
Last season, the Galaxy were eliminated in the preliminary round by the Puerto Rico Islanders on aggregate, and this year, they aim to bounce back from a poor showing at Victoria Street.
This year, there would be no repeat, as they disposed of the Blue Eagles 2-0 through goals by Adam Cristman in the 13th minute and Landon Donovan in the 60th minute.

90' + 3' - Corner for Motagua. Goal kick, after that never materialized. That's it!
FINAL
LOS ANGELES GALAXY 2
Adam Cristman 13'
Landon Donovan 60'
C.D. MOTAGUA 0
90' + 2' - Motagua, looking to at least get one back. They are being held at bay by the midfield and backline of the G's.
90' + 1' - Gregg knows better than to delay the game like that. Throw-in, Los Angeles's A.J. DeLaGarza. The fans have seen enough and are heading for the exits.
90' - Taken quickly and taken short. Another save from Donaldo Morales. This guy gets my respect tonight. Corner. Headed by Omar Gonzalez but cleared.
8,196 in attendance. So much for my attendance prediction going over 9,000.
Three minutes of additional time.
Yellow card 3 Gregg Berhalter
Los Angeles Galaxy
89' - Chris Birchall loses possession. Maybe too late for him to be jettisoned at this moment. Corner for Los Angeles.
88' - Substitution Los Angeles Galaxy
IN 25 Miguel Lopez
OUT 18 Mike Magee
Magee's services are needed elsewhere.
Substitution C.D. Motagua
IN 6 Emilson Cruz
OUT 21 Aly Arriola
87' - Jerry Bengtson has been neutralized tonight by this defense. They knew what he did back in the Liga Nacional Clausura last year, and they marked him.
86' - Here's A.J. DeLaGarza. The Galaxy will look to melt this clock and be smart with the ball. Bad touch from Chris Birchall. This explains why he is doing garbage duty tonight.
85' - Substitution Los Angeles Galaxy
IN 8 Chris Birchall
OUT 5 Sean Franklin
Well, Chris Birchall has not had a good season so far, so he's going to need to earn his way back. Handball.
84' - Juninho's all right, but Donaldo Morales is taking a bit longer to get back on his feet. Now he does. And play will go on.
83' - Donaldo Morales with a stop and both he and Juninho are hurt. That was a collision. We may have extra time here, and plenty of it.
82' - Good defending on that sequence from Motagua. They're not gonna give up just yet, even when they are two goals and a man down.
81' - Oh dear. Mike Magee did not get a good foot on that ball. A chance to deliver the hammer, and he lays the stake in the crotch instead of the heart. Jorge Claros with the dispossession.
80' - Folks, we are entrenched in crunch time. It's 2-0 LA. More sweeping. Mike Magee, Michael Stephens, Gregg Berhalter, and now A.J. DeLaGarza. Some interesting buildup.
79' - Here's Johnny Leveron. Brayan Garcia with possession. And now it's Guevara, the captain for the Blue Eagles. Good buildup.
78' - Motagua win a free kick, taken quickly. Juninho plays it back. Now it's A.J. DeLaGarza. Mike Magee couldn't get to that ball.
77' - Terrible night for Pando Ramirez, even though there's still more football to go. And Adam Cristman could have done better with that touch. He's not there yet.
76' - Substitution Los Angeles Galaxy
IN 26 Michael Stephens
OUT 23 David Beckham
Substitution C.D. Motagua
IN 31 Esdras Padilla
OUT 11 Guillermo Ramirez
75' - This match is going to be wide-open. Almost like an MLS game. Maybe Saunders is treating it like it's another MLS game. Midweek, terrestrial cable coverage on Fox Soccer, that sort of stuff.
74' - Josh Saunders with the stop on Pando Ramirez. And another stop. Now Saunders is doing some work. Donaldo Morales with the collection. Finally, Saunders is doing some work.
73' - Back come LA. Here is Omar Gonzalez. Now it's David Beckham. Nothing doing. You knpow something? I haven't been calling Jerry Bengtson's name in a while.
72' - The Angel City Brigade with the "Dos A Cero" chant. Still a long ways to go, ACB.. Here's A.J. DeLaGarza. The good thing here is that Sean Franklin is all right.
71' - Boy, the Blue Eagles were two goals down. Now they are a man down. Not the way you want to end a match.
70' - This is just clockwork sweeping. Some sweet shin music.
Red card 12 Ivan Guerrero
C.D. Motagua
