Spanish defender Jose Enrique has reportedly signed with Liverpool from Newcastle United for a fee of £6 million, according to Goal.com.

The 25-year-old Spaniard and fifth signing of the summer for the club could hardly contain himself following the conclusion of the deal, as he had this to say:

"This is one of the happiest days of my life. I have come to one of the biggest clubs not just in England, but in the world. I am really, really happy."

Enrique comes as an incredible value addition having quietly become one of the better defenders in the EPL. In fact, in 1-on-1 situations the fullback was only beaten a meager nine times last season which stands tops among his more notable league peers Ashley Cole (38 times), Gael Clichy (26 times), Leighton Baines (24 times), and Patrice Evra (23 times).

Now joining former Newcastle teammate Andy Carroll at the ambitious Kenny Dalglish side, one has to wonder if the exodus of star players from St. James Park will ever cease and whether any of the funds gained through sales will be spent to improve the historically rich side.
