Mathieu Flamini Inspires Arsenal Back Atop the Premiership
A big Wednesday Arse at the top of the table to you all!
I thoroughly enjoyed the game against Newcastle yesterday in the Premier League. As you will all be in the know of by now, the Gunners put in a performance which signals that we are coming back to our best, with a 3-0 win over the Magpies. For now we are top before the Manky shite take on Pompey tonight, which is not being shown live on the ESPN Star network.
Suprised?
Well I am for one. Not to show Fergie and his band of Manky shite LIVE is tantamount to violating your sister in these parts! Does this mean the kind sirs at ESPN Star have taken down their Ronaldo 'diving' posters or given up on sacrificing nubile virgins at a hideous bust of the old Geriatric so that he can continue to buy players like Anderson and say that they are better than Cescy? No, you bet your life they wouldn't.
The reports just in suggest that the previously mentioned bust of Fergie has almost the same intelligence as Rio Ferdinand! Huh? you say.We knew that already innit? Next they will tell us that stabbing someone repeatedly in the gut could result in death!
Ok, enough of that, now on to the game. We started with Eduardo and Adebayor up front as expected, and Diaby slotted into the position Rosicky normally takes up in the starting lineup, with Almunia in goal the rest was an unchanged lineup from Saturday.
We took some time to get going, the better part of half an hour. Flamini put in a man of the match performance. He paraded and marauded the entire pitch and was every bit our Gattuso! He was directly involved with our first two goals.
First, setting up the most accurate of crosses for Adebayor to head home. Great technique on the header by the big Togolese.
This galvanized the midfield and a bit of a frenzied performance by Arsenal ensued as we camped in the Magpie's half for pretty much the remainder of the half, looking very dangerous indeed. The team from Tyneside offered very little going forward, and we looked comfortable indeed.
So it ended 1-0 at the half. The start of the second saw us come out more aggressively. Senderos had one solid block, deep in our own box to save our bacon. We rode this out and it was all Gunners for the remainder of the game.
The next goal was an absolute belter by the Flamster. He launched one quite a long way out of the box with enough swerve and power to catch Shay Given out; an absolute peach! The third came late, when second-half substitute Bendtner controlled a long punt upfield to lay it off to Cescy in the box who slotted home.
This completed two good results against the Geordies. A satisfying win indeed. Our rhythm was back, and we dominated the play and possession the Arsenal way.
After the game Le Prof lavished praise on the deserving Flamini and also briefly referred to the midfielders contract saying:
"He's growing from game to game and getting stronger. He scored a great goal, but I like the time he took and the composure he showed on the cross for Adebayor. We want him to stay, he wants to stay, it's a question of patience and good positive discussions."
"We needed time and patience to kill the game off at the right time. They defended very well and we didn't create too many chances. We were more comfortable once we scored the first goal, it allowed us to control the game technically. There were three great goals. Newcastle worked very hard in both games, they have a great spirit."
