Arian Foster Injury: Why Texans' RB Is Right to Be Disgusted at Fantasy Fans
Arian Foster re-aggravated a hamstring injury in Saturday's NFL preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, and like everybody else these days he took to Twitter to talk about his health.
The Houston Texans star running back was upset that more people were concerned about Arian Foster the fantasy football running back, and not Arian Foster the person. He tweeted his feelings about it all.
4 those sincerely concerned, I'm doing ok & plan 2 B back by opening day. 4 those worried abt your fantasy team, u ppl are sick
I know opinions are usually cement. But, I love all my fans. My quarrel is with people who value a digital game over a humans health.
Foster has every right to be outraged at those who only care how their fantasy football team will be affected.
He's a human being, and his health is a true concern right now. Forget about fantasy football for just a moment.
Fantasy football has become extremely popular over the last few years, and it has greatly changed how fans view the NFL. Instead of just rooting for one team, fans are out there cheering on individuals hoping to beat their friends in fantasy football.
As fans, we wrongly care for players just for their stats.
Yes, most NFL fans wouldn't know who Arian Foster is if it weren't for fantasy football, but that doesn't mean you should only view him as a digital factor because you play fantasy football.
He's a human just like you and I, therefore, be respectful of the man's injury. If you were injured, you wouldn't want someone to only care that you can't drive them somewhere or you can't meet up with someone.
So don't just view Foster as a fantasy football player, because he's a real person trying to recover from a painful injury.
