The NY Giants and GM Reese Blow It Again

The Super Bowl win for the New York Giants was February 3rd 2008. That seems like a lifetime ago when you think what has happened in the world since that great day in Arizona.
Yet, Jerry Reese and his tight knit group continue to rest upon those memories and a reputation of being over achievers.
That ship has sailed.
The Giants organization and Jerry Reese caught lightening in a bottle in 2007 and the Giants fans will forever thank them for orchestrating such as fairy tale year.
It's 2011. Wake up boys...It's time to move on.
The fans, the season ticket holders and the people who cover this team are not stupid. They low balled Ahmad Bradshaw, Kevin Boss and Steve Smith. 2 out 3 called their bluff. The fans lose again.
Why not sign Steve Smith? It makes NO sense.
The Giants have not beaten the Philadelphia Eagles in 3 years. Loosing Kevin Boss and Steve Smith isn't going to get you any closer. Letting a talent like Steve Smith go to your biggest rival is disgusting.
When he gets healthy. And Steve Smith will be healthy...he will beat the Giants year in and year out if this lack of attention to personal continues.
The NFL is a business, however missing the playoffs back to back years might give you the impression this Giants business has some internal problems. They look unprepared for Free Agency, letting three out five young, productive players walk out the door.
The lack of a serious offer and the small window to capitalize on the Giants cheapness contributed to Barry Cofield making a bad decision and moving to Washington where they play a 3/4 defense.
Every day that goes by Osi Umenyoira's story about Jerry Reese offering him a new deal and lying about it become more and more credible.
Wes Welker: Did the New England Patriots cut Wes Welker when he shredded his knee? No, they were loyal and supportive to a player that produced for their franchise.
Rod Woodson: Did the Pittsburgh Steelers cut Rod Woodson when he shredded his knee? No. Former Steelers coach Bill Cowher left a roster spot open so Woodson could return. And through hard work and rehab, Woodson became the first player in NFL history to make it back from reconstructive knee surgery in the same season.
Kevin Faulk: Faulk's 2010 season ended in Week 2, when in the fourth quarter of a loss to the Jets, Faulk tore his ACL. He was placed on injured reserve on September 22, 2010, ending his season. On July 30, 2011, Faulk re-signed with the Patriots.
These are just examples of amazing franchises that understand that a successful "business" is built from the ground up and is carried by the talent that they groom. How many dead beat players(Moss, Wilkinson) have the Giants carried for years under Jerry Reese and all of a sudden we have no money for our most productive players.
What does Eli think? Does he have a voice in this?
I would think Eli is starting to second guess these moves. Jerry Reese has taken away his best friend and center(O'Hara), his starting left guard(Suebert), his starting tight end(Boss) and arguably one of the best clutch slot receivers(Smith) in football.
Save the injury appeal. When he's catching passes wearing green, whether it be this year or next you're going to be asking why. You know the old saying, "good things happen to those who wait". The Giants should have waited on Steve Smith.
See...the problem here is the Giants CONTINUE to try and squeeze players in where they don't belong because they don't want to pay players that do.
Kiwi is Not a linebacker. Ross is NOT a safety. Manningham or Nicks is NOT a slot receiver. Pascoe is NOT a fullback. It never ends.
What a disappointment.
