So what is the latest news from the Rockpile? All-Star outfielder and Rockies cornerstone Matt Holliday has been traded in principle to Billy Beane's Oakland A's.

Details emerging suggest that the A's will part with outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, left-handed starter Greg Smith, and right-handed reliever Huston Street. Holliday has one year left on his current deal and then his Agent Scott Boras will mostly liking be shopping Holliday's skills and services to the highest bidder.

The Rockies look to be undergoing another youth movement as they are actively shopping Garrett Atkins and Wily Taveras as well. The Rockies are also letting Closer Brain Fuentes walk away to free agency. Rockies fans let's hope this team has some outstanding youngsters waiting in the wings otherwise it could be a long season in 2009.
