The Irish just claimed some silverware after knocking off Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales to win the first ever Carling Nations Cup.
Ireland will now take on Croatia in one of the biggest matches of the day, which also includes games between France and Chile, Italy and Spain, as well as the United States and Mexico.
Robbie Keane will captain the Irish side against Croatia and will be hoping his side can continue its recent success against Croatia.
The Cup of Nations win was certainly uplifting for Ireland and gives them some confidence entering this friendly with Croatia.
Ireland is expected to start a much younger squad for this match, while Croatia has decided to go with a veteran side for the friendly. Ireland may get caught looking ahead of this match as boss Giovanni Trapattoni had this to say about the match to the Irish Independent:
I’ve pulled the plug on the holidays already. I’ve been watching DVDs, and have been keeping an eye on our players. I watched Villa play in Asia recently, I have watched Russia again two or three times, I have watched Slovakia again. We are preparing now for the Croatia game, but of course you get excited about the bigger games to come.
They may be preparing for the game, but it remains to be seen how focused they will be when the two teams collide.
