UFC: If Ben Henderson Beats Jim Miller, Does He Deserve a Title Shot ?

Michael SkytteContributor IAugust 10, 2011

This Sunday at UFC Live on Versus 5, Jim Miller will face off against former WEC lightweight champion Ben Henderson.

It is pretty much certain that if Jim Miller wins this fight, he will be next in line for a shot at the UFC lightweight championship, after Gray Maynard gets his rematch at UFC 136.

But what if Ben Henderson wins? Will he get a shot?

I have heard that the winner of this fight gets a shot at winner Edgar/Maynard.

I do not find this very fair, considering you have guys like Clay Guida and Melvin Guillard waiting for their due as well.

Jim Miller deserved a title shot two fights ago in the minds of many UFC fans.

I am all for Jim Miller getting a shot if he wins this fight, but what if he doesn't? Does that mean Ben 'Smooth' Henderson gets a shot?

Considering he just came off a pretty lackluster win against Mark Bocek at UFC 129 and his fight before that (although entertaining) was a loss to Anthony Pettis, I don't think he should get this shot.

If Ben Henderson wins this fight, give him Guida and see if he wins that fight.

Then you can put him in the title picture.

Where can I comment?
