Another West Coast Holliday: Matt Holliday Traded to Oakland Athletics

Phil HoopsCorrespondent INovember 10, 2008

SI.com's Jon Heyman is reporting that Matt Holliday has been traded to the Oakland Athletics. The players involved in the deal have not officially been revealed; however, Yahoo's Tim Brown is reporting that closer Huston Street, Carlos Gonzalez and starting pitcher Greg Smith will be headed to Colorado.

Holliday, who hit for an impressive .321 average last year with 25 home runs and 88 runs batted in had been one of the most frequent names mentioned to be on the move this offseason. Yet, there have been some critics who have been leary on how Holliday will produce away from Coors Field, as his 2008 on-base percentage decreased drastically on the road.

Holliday is eligible for free agency following the 2009 offseason.
