By now we all know what has happened in the media with the Tiger Woods-Steve Williams saga. Tiger firing Stevie, Stevie lashing back at Tiger after his new boss won the WGC, and everything else.

On Tuesday, Steve Williams said he meant no harm and apologized for his comments.  Adam Scott downplayed it and said he had the talk with Steve and it was no big deal.

Tiger then took the high road out of it and said he felt happy for Williams and that he actually sent a congratulatory text to Steve after the win.

Of course he had to be political about it. He is in rebuilding mode. A new image is part of the change and animosity towards him does not help in that process.

So the Tiger Woods-Steve Williams feud is finally winding down. We can now move on to the actual tournament and see the golfers play.

At least from a periscope view, on the surface it looks like it’s over. But the fact is that the media won’t let this go away quietly. They will let the tournament finish and then start the questioning again based on the result.

But the question is whether all this that has happened with Steve Williams so far would help or hurt Tiger Woods this weekend at the PGA.

The answer to me is real simple. It will help Tiger Woods. I just don’t see how it would hurt him.

While the timing of the firing of Steve Williams might not have been the best, clearing the things that attached him to his past will help to a clearer run in the future.

Steve Williams might have been his last thread to his former self and winning ways. He can use him now as a way to find his new winning form.

Tiger is slowly turning the corner. He seems physically fine, and after his four rounds at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, and his practice rounds at the Highlands, his golf game should be rounding into form.

He has shown some of his swagger back. But his mindset and demeanor are the ones that still need some more work. But being the ever-competitive person that Tiger is, this incident will not be over until he can get back at Steve.

It’s just how competitive Tiger is. And he thrives on it. This is like the bulletin-board material that the teams use as motivation in their locker rooms when another team say something about them in the press.

Also, there is the fact that for the first time in a long while, some people sided with him after Steve went overboard with his comments. Some were on Tiger’s side.

Tiger never shies away from the attention, and this gives him plenty of it. Plus, he can use it as a partial motivation to compete and excel.

Even if Tiger wins this weekend, we won’t see Tiger fire back at Stevie. At least not in public.

He may send Stevie a text message and thank for him for giving him the additional motivation to get back on track.
