With the game trying to clean itself up, it makes you wonder how people can think they can still get away with using performance enhancers on the field of play. 

Steve Evarts, the 43rd pick by the Atlanta Braves in the 2006 MLB Draft, has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for metabolites of Nandrolone. 

Evarts, who is currently with the Charleston RiverDogs, the Class-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, is 1-5 with a 5.65 ERA in seven starts. Batters are really teeing off with a .292 average against and his K/BB ratio is nearly 1:1. 

Since becoming a professional in 2006, Evarts put together some eye-popping numbers while a member of the Braves organization; eight wins, 81 strikeouts in 98 innings pitched and a 2.30 ERA. Unfortunately, 2009 and 2010 were write-offs as Evarts was recovering from Tommy John surgery, perhaps a reason the performance enhancers were used. 

When all is said in done, MLB and MiLB are on a mission to make people forget the steroid era; unfortunately, reminders like this make it very difficult.
