Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic has had to settle rumours regarding a move to Serie A giants Juventus, as the rumors resurfaced this transfer window after floating around last season.

When asked about a possible move to the Bianconeri, Vidic's agent Paolo Fabbri stated he was "totally surprised."

"But the player renewed his contracted, negotiations I followed personally, after Manchester United guaranteed he would become a symbol," Fabbri told

"There is nothing true about that, those are stories created by newspapers which do not know what to write. Vidic is the captain of Manchester United and the best  defender on the team."

Juventus have made no mention of signing Vidic, and it doesn't seem as though Turin have tabled a bid for the player. Earlier in the week Juventus rejected a bid for central defender Leonardo Bonucci, suggesting that the club is happy with their current center pairing.

In terms of bolstering their defence this transfer window, Juventus secured the services of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Reto Ziegler, ensuring that their right and left-back positions will be reliable—contrary to past seasons.

There has been no word from Juventus regarding Vidic however. A crucial part of the Manchester United squad, a bid would set back the Italian side significant amount. Last year he captained the Red Devils, the Premier League champions.
