With the NFL season roughly a month away and the lockout now far back in the rearview mirror, rosters are starting to take shape. Virtually all the big names—Nnamdi Asomugha, Kevin Kolb, Santonio Holmes, Sidney Rice—have been locked up and are already in the thick of training camp.
But there are still several very valuable pieces who are either unemployed and looking for work or are hoping for a transfer to a new address.
Injuries will play a big role in that. If a corner goes down, expect Asante Samuel to be mentioned as a replacement. If a quarterback goes down, expect Kyle Orton's name to pop up.
Still, it's going to be up to creative general managers and capologists to acquire some of the other stars' services. Osi Umenyiora's battle with the Giants front office comes to mind, but there is sure to be more in store for us throughout the preseason.
