Little League World Series 2011: 3 Most Memorable Teams from LLWS
Once again, the Little League World Series proved why it is the most entertaining baseball of the summer. Every game is packed with drama, and every out is played with 100 percent effort. And, more than anything, these players love to play baseball, and it shows.
1. Oranjestad, Aruba
Aruba didn't pickup a victory in this game. They were a quick two and out. And in those two games they lost by a combined score of 32-4. But during their brief appearance they highlighted everything that is great with the LLWS.
This team played hard on every out, and they enjoyed every minute of their experience. There was no in-team fighting and a bunch of team camaraderie. This team was nothing but smiles and dance moves.
In between innings various players broke it down for everyone watching, and showed just how much fun playing baseball can be.
2. Big Sky, Montana
In a tournament of Cinderellas, Big Sky, Montana was the biggest. Big Sky was one of 11 teams making their first appearance in the LLWS, but this wasn't just Big Sky's first appearance—this was the first for any team from Montana.
And Montana made the most of it. They went undefeated to the American championship game before falling to eventual champs, California. They were the only team to beat California in this tournament. It was a magical run that came up just short.
California is the 2011 LLWS champs, and they earned it. This team played spectacularly sound baseball the whole way through.
While this team could put up some runs it was their pitching that stole the show. California pitched three shutouts. They allowed just one run in two other games, and the only time a team scored more than one run that came after California had the US championship game well in hand.
