Throughout his football career, the No. 5 has been Donovan's on every organization he's played for. But now, arriving to Minnesota, he would have to deal with P Chris Kluwe, the seven-year pro. Kluwe was a good sport and had no problem giving up the number he has worn for the past seasons, but did have a few simple requests.
Word for word, Kluwe told Donovan, via a minor press conference: "My price is thus: He has to mention my band "Tripping Icarus" in five news conferences and donate $5,000 to the charity I give to."
Tripping Icarus is rock band that Kluwe plays the bass for.
The last request for his jersey was more for laughs than anything else, an ice cream cone. However, Kluwe added that the dessert would be optional.
Although this may seem a bit ridiculous, for a future Hall-of-Famer to even go through this hassle with a punter, I'm sure it won't bother Donovan and he'll be a good sport about it. Either way though, McNabb would get that No. 5 jersey regardless if Kluwe gave consent.
McNabb is going to help this franchise tremendously, and let's face it, what he wants, he will get. We've seen it in the past.
And if he doesn't get what he wants. He'll simply walk.
