Fedor Emelianenko versus Dan Henderson was a huge bout for the two legends of MMA. Strikeforce was able to put the two former PRIDE champions in the ring with each other, and boy did it not disappoint.
With the definition of his legacy unknown, coming off two disappointing losses and with as many critics as he has fans, Fedor came out swinging.
Both fighters started off throwing punch after punch, strike after strike and pushed a fast pace for most of the round.
Then with a minute to go in the first round Fedor dropped Henderson and jumped on the opportunity to end his losing streak.
Unfortunately for Fedor, it just wasn't his night and Henderson recovered, took his back and landed an uppercut that hurt Fedor. Fedor then face-planted into the mat and Henderson threw more quick punches in until referee Herb Dean came in and stopped the fight.
Some view the stoppage as premature, some view it as the right call. Personally, to me it was the right call. Herb is a great referee and I have to stand by his decision.
All that aside it now leaves Fedor fans with questions of if their hero is retiring. For his haters, it leaves them yet another moment to say, "I told you so," and talk down the man who is the greatest MMA heavyweight of all-time.
