Wheeler's Hat Trick Helps Bruins Beat The Leafs 5-2

Rookie Blake Wheeler led the charge against the Toronto Maple Leafs having put together his first career hat trick to help the Bruins beat the Leafs 5-2.

Five players on the Bruins had multi-point nights which proves the Bruins have all four lines playing the best hockey of the season.

The Boston Bruins (7-3-3, 17pts) have won 5 out of the last 6 games and have out scored their opponents 22-10 in that time.  The Bruins are currently one point out of first place.

Tim Thomas (who is not on the All-Star Ballot?) had another great game saving 34 out of 37 shots for his fifth win of the season.  Tim Thomas said that the Bruins played disciplined hockey which kept the Leafs from making a comeback in the third period as they did the last game the Bruins faced the Leafs.

Andrew Ferrence continues to be the best defenseman the Bruins have.  His strong skating ability gives him the opportunity to move up with the forwards to produce some great offensive chances.

Blake Wheeler changed his number from 42 to 26 before the game today.  There is a good chance he will stick with his new lucky number.

David Krejci has continued to show poise and great vision for the Bruins.  He is quickly becoming one of the best players in the Bruins line-up.

The Bruins are playing great hockey right now and are letting the system work for them.

Saturday evening should be a great tilt when the Bruins take on the Buffalo Sabres in the Hub of Hockey.
