Heading into the off season the Raiders had a lot of work to do before the 2011 season began. The Raiders had numerous key players that became free agents. They also had some weaknesses that they needed to address. One of those weaknesses was protecting Jason Campbell's blind side.
The Raiders began last season with Mario Henderson at left tackle. He clearly wasn't the answer so the Raiders started rotating Henderson and Jared Veldheer until the rookie finally took over the job full time. Veldheer had a decent year at LT but there was no doubt that the position needed to be upgraded if the Raiders were going to take that next step.
Today the Raiders had Jared Gaither in for a visit at their training camp facility in Napa, CA. It has been reported that he has agreed to a deal. He just needs to pass a physical before he signs the contract. The Raiders want to make sure their guy is fully healed from a back injury that kept him sidelined last season. He didn't leave town so he likely will sign his deal tomorrow.
Well there you have it folks. The Raiders make a HUGE signing. It wasn't Nnamdi, but I'll take this any day.
Hue Jackson's "Bully" is starting to take form!
