Nnamdi Asomugha Signs with Eagles: 5 Reasons Why Philly Wins NFC East
Who would have thought? After days about hearing how the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets were competing for free agent Nnamdi Asomugha, the Philadelphia Eagles swooped in and snagged him off the open market.
Asomugha will join Asante Samuel and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to create the league's deepest and most talented cornerback corps.
Here are five reasons why the Eagles will win the NFC East.

Philly Kept Asomugha Away from the Dallas Cowboys
1 of 5Over the past couple of days, the Dallas Cowboys were speculated to be one of the biggest players in the Nnamdi Asomugha sweepstakes and many believed that they would eventually come to terms with the free agent cornerback—that obviously did not happen.
Asomugha is now a member of the Cowboys' rival, the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas is now going to have to face Philly's new trio of cornerbacks twice a year—oh, what joy!
Nnamdi Asomugha Is Arguably the Top Shutdown Cornerback in the NFL
2 of 5By just looking at Nnamdi Asomugha's stats, you will likely assume that he's just an average cornerback due to the lack of "production" on paper.
That is obviously not the case.
Ever since 2006—when Asomugha picked off eight passes—his stats took a major dip, simply because teams did not want to throw his way.
Similar to former great Deion Sanders, Asomugha's stats may seem average, but it's due to how dominant of a defender he really is.
Philly Now Has the Deepest Cornerback Corps in the NFL
3 of 5Not only will Nnamdi Asomugha will be joining Asante Samuel in Philadelphia's defensive backfield, so will Dominique Rodgers-Cromratie, who was acquired in the Kevin Kolb trade to Arizona.
Asomugha, Samuel and Rodgers-Cromartie are all ball-hawking defensive backs that will be opposing quarterback's and offensive coordinator's nightmares.
Philly's Dominant Secondary Pairs Perfectly with Their High-Powered Offense
4 of 5Last season the Philadelphia Eagles ranked second in the NFL with total offense and put many teams behind early in games, which caused them to pass more frequently against the Eagles defense.
This fits so perfectly.
As teams fall behind due to Michael Vick and Philly's offense, teams will then have to run right into Philly's defensive strength—their secondary.
Good luck.
Asomugha, Samuel and Rodgers-Cromartie Should Always Be Fresh
5 of 5In basic defensive formations, the Eagles can't have all three cornerbacks on the field at the same time.
I would assume that Philaldelphia will find a nice rotational for its new trio of play-making cornerbacks so that whoever is in coverage will always be fresh and well rested.
It's almost like the Eagles have a pitching rotation with three aces at the front end. It is almost too good to be true.
