The big news coming in today is that the San Francisco Giants have reached a tentative agreement with the New York Mets to acquire outfielder Carlos Beltran. This is going to play a big role in potentially deciding the AL West. It also greatly helps San Francisco in their search for a second straight World Series title.

Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi of FOX Sports have reported the agreement, as Zach Wheeler will be the centerpiece of the deal. Buster Olney of ESPN reported that the Mets will pay $4 million of the remaining $6 million on Beltran's contract.

With this move almost completed, you have to think that the Arizona Diamondbacks would be pressured to make a move as well, in order to counter this blockbuster deal. The Giants could win the West with this and would stand a chance against the Philadelphia Phillies' monster rotation.
