It was Anderson Silva's second fight at light heavyweight, and it was against former UFC light heavyweight champion, Forrest Griffin. Silva though proved at this UFC 101 bout that he can do what he does best at any division in the sport.
Silva seemingly dominated the only round of this fight, just dancing around and avoiding everything Forrest was throwing at him. It seemed that Silva had chosen to become "The One" that night, and when Silva did choose to strike he made sure it counted.
If you look at 57 seconds into the video, it looks like Silva even offers a hand to Forrest after knocking him down. Now tell me how many times you've seen that in fight.
This was the second of three consecutive fights where Silva had embarrassed his opponent in some sort of way.
At the end of the fight though it was a light punch to an injured jaw that dropped Forrest and now has become what is the lowest point of Forrest's career. It may be his lowest point, but there is absolutely no shame in losing to Silva.
The fight won "Knockout of the Night" honors as well as "Fight of the Night". It also won "Beatdown of the Year" in 2009 from Sherdog.
Forrest is 2-0 since this fight in August of 2009. Those wins have come against two former UFC champions, Tito Ortiz and Rich Franklin.
Silva since this fight has fought exclusively at middleweight to defend his title and has done so three times. Although if you ask Chael Sonnen he's only done it once.
