Chelsea Transfer Rumor: Villas-Boas Looking at Adam Johnson?
According to radio station Talksport, Chelsea's new Portuguese manager Andre Villas-Boas is eyeing up a move for young England and Manchester City left-winger Adam Johnson, who is currently on tour in the US.
The 21-year-old made 15 of his appearances in the Premier League from the bench last year and often played second fiddle to Spanish international David Silva.
With Chelsea so far quiet in the summer transfer window and rivals Liverpool and Manchester United particularly active in the evolution of their squads, it may be time for Villas-Boas to make his intentions clear with a shock move for a player who is still regarded by many as an England international for years to come.
With his extreme pace and good dribbling abilities, Johnson may be able to provide more ammunition for Spanish forward Fernando Torres to convert into goals and Chelsea win back the league title, although the Londoners may to struggle to convince City to sell the player, especially as fellow winger Shaun Wright-Phillips is still being linked with a move away from Eastlands.
