Arsenal Transfer Rumor: Joel Campbell to Complete Move This Week?
With 12 goals in 19 matches for Costa Rica's youth teams, it is no surprise that young forward Joel Campbell, currently at Costa Rican club Saprissa, has attracted the attention of Arsenal.
And although the player's father had asked for any move to the Premier League to be delayed until his son had finished playing in the U20 World Cup for his country, it seems that the transfer is now back on, according to this report from goal.com.
A £1.2 million ($2 million) transfer fee is reported to have been agreed between the two clubs as Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger looks to make up numbers in his squad, following Gale Clichy's departure and the expected exits of German forward Nicolas Bendtner and Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who is heavily linked with a return to Barcelona.
The Gunners have only added full-back Carl Jenkinson and Ivory Coast forward Gervinho, who scored twice on his debut, and some fans are upset at the perceived lack of ambition being shown by the club's management.
So a move for one of Latin America's hottest properties would give a clear indication that the club is looking to boost its squad, not dismantle it.
