College Football Recruiting: Stefon Diggs Very Impressive at Friday Night Lights
Every year in July, the University of Florida hosts hundreds of top high school football players from around the nation in a workout called Friday Night Lights.
And while it may be tough to separate yourself as one of the best in such a large group of athletes, five-star wide receiver Stefon Diggs did just that.
Hailing all the way from Olney, Md., Diggs was regarded as one of the top performers at FNL this past Friday.
Scouts in attendance raved about Diggs' speed and athleticism. He clearly got the better of many of the defensive backs that he faced at FNL.
And while many praised the skills of Diggs, the love was also returned by him to the University of Florida.
""I really enjoyed Friday Night Lights here at Florida," Diggs said in an interview with InsidetheGators.com. "The atmosphere they have set up here is just unreal."
"
It was important to have Diggs at Friday Night Lights for the Gators. They have lacked a real playmaker at wide receiver ever since Percy Harvin left in 2008.
With his speed and ability to cut through traffic, Diggs can bring that kind of playing style back to the Gators.
Other schools are surely taking notice of Diggs, though. He already has received an astounding total of 36 offers, which include the likes of Florida, USC, Oregon, Ohio State, Auburn and many other reputable football programs.
Unfortunately, Diggs will not be selecting a school until the Army All-American Game or on National Signing Day. He expects to trim down his list to his 10 or 12 favorite schools by the first week of August.
Diggs has been relatively quiet about which schools are his favorite, but let's hope that the Gator Chomp that he gave at FNL is indicative of his feelings towards the University of Florida.
Diggs is the No. 2 wide receiver and eighth-best prospect in the country, according to Rivals.com.
