Denver Broncos: 5 Guaranteed Players on the Roster Bubble Entering Free Agency
There is going to be a lot of attention on which players the Denver Broncos will add to their roster in free agency. What might get lost is the fact that the signing of a player usually sets in motion the equal and opposite reaction of cutting a player.
Here is a list of five players who should already be thinking about the potential of being on a different roster before September. This is not a guarantee that they will all be cut, but it is guaranteed that they are already on the bubble.
Perrish Cox, CB
1 of 5Off all the players on this list, Cox might be the first casualty.
If he does get cut then he has nobody but himself to blame. The complete and utter embarrassment that surrounds his entire situation is not something the Broncos will keep around the locker room any longer than they have to.
It’s a tragic waste of talent and hopefully not something that brings down any other players on the Broncos roster.
Mario Haggan, LB
2 of 5The consummate journeyman will do anything to remain on this roster. His dedication and adaptability is admirable and has served the Broncos well to this point.
However, this could finally be the year where the bubble bursts for Haggan. The Broncos have already added younger players to compete and could add more via free agency.
Russ Hochstein, OL
3 of 5Hochstein is a great locker room guy and has had a solid NFL career but the clock may have struck midnight for the interior lineman.
He did a phenomenal job of recovering from a torn ACL but he ended up on this roster by being one of Josh McDaniels' guys, and that is not enough of a reason anymore.
Darcel McBath, S
4 of 5Another failed draft pick for Josh McDaniels might finally reach the end of the line in Denver. Too little time on the field to show his worth will be his downfall.
McBath may not get the opportunity to realize his potential in Denver as the Broncos have high hopes for their new draft picks. Rahim Moore and Quinton Carter are a part of a crowded stable at safety, one that could become less crowded if McBath loses his roster spot.
Correll Buckhalter, RB
5 of 5Aging, rarely used and often injured are not attributes that keep players on the roster. Unfortunately, they all do a decent job of describing Buckhalter in his time with Denver.
The Broncos are certainly looking to revamp their running game and they might start by cleaning house. Buckhalter seems like the most likely candidate due to his age but he is certainly not the only running back who could be on the bubble.
