Philadelphia Eagles: Latest Buzz
The NFL CBA has been signed and football is almost underway! The general managers will have a meeting at 3 P.M. EST today to go over the timeline for this week. There have been rumors of free agency starting Tuesday at noon, with training camps opening Wednesday. However, there are other rumors that training camp and free agency will start on Friday. Whatever happens this week, there are bound to be rumors swirling, so here is what has been reported most recently.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was on WIP today, and talked to Anthony Gargano. He said that since he is still a Cardinal, he remains loyal to them, but is definitely not opposed to coming to Philadelphia.
Derrick Gunn of Comcast Sports Net Philadelphia has reported today that the Cardinals are not the front-runners in the Kevin Kolb sweepstakes, and there are eight teams in the market for him. Some suggest that it may come in to a bidding war between division rivals Arizona and Seattle.
Also, a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution indicates that Ray Edwards, the 6-5 268 pound defensive end, could be suiting up in green. He had nine sacks last year after posting 8.5 sacks in 2009 with the Minnesota Vikings.
Other options at defensive end are Charles Johnson, who is expected to re-sign with the Panthers, or former Eagle Jason Babin who had a breakout season last year under Eagles new defensive line coach, Jim Washburn.
What position do the Eagles need most?
If the Eagles were unable to acquire Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, other options include 27-year-old Jonathon Joseph, Carlos Rogers, or Ike Taylor.
Analyst Adam Caplan has talked about unrestricted free agent linebacker Kirk Morrison, and how he could be a good fit with the Eagles.
Adam Schefter is now reporting that teams can agree to terms with Free Agents starting Tuesday, but the players can’t report to the team until Friday, when League transactions are permitted.
The Eagles can start training camp on Wednesday.
