Power Ranking the Top 10 Teams in World Football
It is hard to quantify the best club in the world. You could name at least 20 that you take into consideration, but the higher up a list you go the harder it is to truly get it right.
Some teams will pass you to death, others will out score you and others will attack or defend you into surrender. But how do you quantify greatness?
The best answer is that you cannot. Any team could be the best in the world on any given day. For all we know right now, as Juventus plays Club America, one of them could be the best in the world. However, that is not the case.
We do know that it is results that prove a team's worth. Their ability to get the job done when the moment is of the essence. Can they come together in a time of crisis and come back from certain defeat in order to justify their placement at the top of the list? Are they able to get out in front and stay ahead?
In the end, some teams have it more than others, and those teams have made that list. Deciding whom to rank as the top 10 clubs in the world at this very moment is harder than many believe but I gave it my best shot.

Corinthians
1 of 10The team that was linked with a major multimillion-pound offer for Carlos Tevez starts off the list in 10th place. The São Paulo-based Brazilian club is believed to be the strongest team in the Americas right now.
Currently they sit atop the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A after the first 11 games of the season have seen them collect nine wins, one draw and one loss for a total of 28 points. They hold a six-point gap over second-place São Paulo, whom they share a historical rivalry with.
Strikers Willian and Liedson share the top goal-scoring duties for the club as they both have five so far this season.
Despite the failure to lure Tevez due to their own monetary issues, the club is certainly on the up and ups as they have some of the biggest sponsorships in South America, and are now broadcast live to European locations.
Manchester City
2 of 10The financial backing of Etihad is set to push Manchester City as far as money can push. They have continued to strengthen this summer with the additions of Gael Clichy and Stefan Savic. It also appears that Sergio Aguero could be on his way to the club in the next 72 hours.
Last season's third-place finish in the English Premier League and an FA Cup victory proved that the other team in Manchester was there to make a stand for top honors. The EPL season opens with a Manchester derby to contest the Community Shield, and we shall see just what kind of year we could be in store for.
Carlos Tevez continues to be a difficult player to deal with as does Mario Balotelli, but the two can still provide some attacking fireworks that will have effect on the season to come.
Bayern Munich
3 of 10They may have only finished third last season in the Bundesliga and are set to go through Champions League qualifying in order to stay in Europe's top tier of competition, but the Bavarian giants are still top class.
Their most recent fixture saw them take a 1-1 draw with AC Milan to penalties where they defeated the Rossoneri 5-3 on spot kicks.
Germany's most popular club has also strengthened with the key addition of Manuel Neuer, who looks to be the next great German keeper, and will be tipped to take the throne once held by Oliver Kahn at Bayern.
Jerome Boateng returns to the Bundesliga, as does former Shalke 04 defender Rafinha, and they also added the midfield support of Takasi Usami after the departure of Andreas Ottl. The new look defense could add the additional strength the side needs to reclaim their title at the top.
Borussia Dortmund
4 of 10However, the Bavarians will be competing once again with Borussia Dortmund for the German title. Despite their penalty defeat to Schalke 04 three days ago, the current reigning German champions are still highly rated.
With no real losses in the transfer market aside from Nuri Sahin, and the possible addition of Nicolas Bendtner still in the cards, they will look to try and retain their title. Dortmund won games with teamwork and class, not star power, and they will look to hold true to that again.
The midfield duo of youngsters Shinji Kagawa and Mario Götze will look to keep up their bright careers in the middle of the park as they collected 14 goals and 12 assists between them.
Lucas Barrios will once again be on the top of his game, and the club will hope to have a chance at repeating their 1996-97 Champions League success when they march back into the UEFA Champions League.
Inter Milan
5 of 10Inter Milan failed to repeat as Scudetto and Champions League champions last season as their stadium-sharing rivals, AC Milan, took the Serie A title.
The Coppa Italia was the height of their success last season, but a new year gives them reason to be hopeful as so far they have not lost Wesley Sneijder or Samuel Eto'o to transfer rumors or either team in Manchester, England.
Italy's fashion-capital giants will open up the season when they face off in the Supercoppa Italia on August 6th to signify the opening of the Serie A season, and it will be a possible Milan derby for the ages.
Chelsea
6 of 10Second place in last season's English Premier League was not enough for the Blues, and neither was a season without any form of silverware. Roman Abrahmovich shelled out the cash in the January transfer window for Fernando Torres and David Luiz, but it was the defender that made the attacking splash that Torres was bought for.
The arrival of Andre Villas-Boas from FC Porto signifies another reign for a Portuguese and the benchmark set by fellow countryman Jose Mourinho years ago will continue to haunt whomever takes the hot seat at Stamford Bridge.
With the Blues expected to make a hefty challenge for the title, it will be interesting to see how the trio of Nicolas Anelka, Didier Drogba and Torres will be used, and with no signings as of yet to note, it is hard to know what to expect. But, nonetheless, the Blues pack quite a punch when up to it.
AC Milan
7 of 10Serie A title-holders AC Milan hope to continue their return to glory in Italy with a repeat of last season. They face off in a Milan derby to start the season and it could be a springboard to success on the right foot if they take the Supercoppa.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho and Alexander Pato hope to keep up their fierce partnership, and Ibra continues to look a striker built for the Serie A as the title seems to follow him from one Milan stripe to another.
Robinho's return to form has led veteran Clarence Seedorf to believe that Milan have what it takes to go after Barcelona at the top of the pile. The exit of Andrea Pirlo to Juventus was a blow, but there are several players in line to take his place, and Mark van Bommel will look to be one of them.
The additions of Taye Taiwo and Phillipe Mexes have bolstered the defense and makes the defending champions look tougher than they were last season.
Real Madrid
8 of 10The Galacticos again are building by adding youth, as Jose Mourinho is looking to build a squad that will mature into one of the greatest versions of Real Madrid in history. Though that is still yet to be seen.
Barcelona outmatched them at nearly every corner except for the Copa Del Rey, in which Sergio Ramos did a good job of giving away the glory from the moment.
The 31-time Spanish champions are chomping at the bit to get after the Blaugrana whom have taken their place on top for the last several seasons, but the new additions of the Mourinho era will hope to erase that and turn the tables.
Manchester United
9 of 10The Red Devils thought they had a chance of finally getting back at Barcelona when Wayne Rooney equalised in the Champions League final in front of a packed house at London's Wembley Stadium.
However, it would not prove to be so as the Catalan giants stormed back to achieve a 3-1 victory on English soil, with Lionel Messi, David Villa and Pedro Rodriguez all getting on the score sheet en route to the second defeat of United in three seasons.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been busy in the market attempting to rebuild once again as more of his veterans retired this year. David de Gea was brought in to replace retired Edwin van der Sar, while Phil Jones takes the place of departed Wes Brown and John O'Shea.
Ashley Young is yet to truly have a defined role as he will not be filling the void left by Paul Scholes, and the appearance of no more signings this summer could mean that will be an ongoing question when the season starts against Manchester City in a derby for bragging rights in the city of Manchester.
Barcelona
10 of 10No team is more on top of the world at the moment than Barcelona continue to be, due in part to a second Champions League title in three years, both achieved by beating arguably the other best team in the world, Manchester United.
Three straight La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cups and one Copa Del Rey since the era of Pep Guardiola began, and there looks to be no slowing down from the side. They can only hope Madrid's millions don't catch up to them in the long run.
Alexis Sanchez joined the Spanish champions this week, but he could cause the continued Cesc Fabregas saga to once again go the way of the Gooner with the funds possibly no longer being available.
Barcelona will be able to defend their Champions League title in a friendly in the United States capital against United in the coming week.
