Hansbrough to Miss Less Time Than Expected: Two Weeks

I was surprised no one had written about this yet, but UNC's student newspaper, The Daily Tar Heel, reported Monday that Tyler Hansbroughis expected to miss just two total weeks of practice with the stress injury in his lower leg.

Citing team sources, the DTH reported that Hansbrough may in fact miss no game time, though his status is still uncertain for the November 15th opener against Pennsylvania University.

Although no one wants one of their players to be injured, this one comes with something of a silver lining for Coach Roy Williams.  Not only should Hansbrough be well-rested and ready for any competitive games in the opening month of the season, but this gives Williams an opportunity to more thoroughly evaluate his backup big men in what is generally considered the #1 recruiting class of 2009 (Rivals.com has ranked them #1).

It is important to note that this was not a stress fracture, which would have entailed significantly more missed time.
