A welterweight clash between Alan Jouban and Andrew Goldthwaite at Shark Fights 17 last week produced a pretty spectacular knockout just seconds away from the end of the fight.
Jouban dominated much of the first two rounds in the fight, out-striking and just plain outfighting his opponent Goldthwaite.
Very late in the third round though, with just 23 seconds left, Jouban throws a midkick, a left jab and finally the crushing blow, a knockout right cross. As Goldthwaite lies dazed and confused on the ground, Jouban gets in one more shot for good luck and it's good night Irene for Goldthwaite.
Jouban coming into this fight was coming off of a knockout loss to Chidi Njokuani, who if you're wondering is Anthony Njokuani's little brother. With this win Jouban increased his record to 2-1.
Goldthwaite was coming off of a TKO win over James Simpson way back in 2009.
Is it possibly ring rust that played a factor in this knockout? Or was it the fact that Goldthwaite took the fight on short notice? Whatever it was, it was a knockout that was just begging to happen and was close on a couple of occasions.
