Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Running out of Ammo in Defense of Fabregas
The Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona move has become ridiculously tiresome and drawn out at this point.
The 24-year-old Spaniard wants to move back to his boyhood club, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has done everything possible to keep his ace in North London.
It seems that race is run, though, and even after landing Alexis Sanchez from Udinese just a few days ago, the Catalan giants are continuing their push for Fabregas.
Money is an issue, though, and the club has to sell some valuable assets if they are to have any real chance at landing the playmaker.
According to Mirror Football, they are working on those necessary moves as we speak:
""Barcelona are planning to sell a number of players to Premier League clubs to help fund a new, improved bid for Cesc Fabregas. The Spanish giants want to get the deal done before they go on a preseason tour of the U.S.—and it is believed coach Pep Guardiola has promised Fabregas he will be their next signing.
Arsenal have been told to expect a fresh bid this weekend, with Barca insiders confident of having an answer by Monday. However, major cash-flow problems mean the Nou Camp side are trying to raise £20million to fund the Fabregas signing by offloading some of their finest younger players on "buy-back" deals."
"
The Catalans have a unique position when it comes to selling off players, and Fabregas is living proof of this.
The UEFA Champions League winners sell off young talent when they need to land bigger name players and in a few years time, when their deals are up, the Catalans lure back the most talented players.
Unfortunately, this is happening to the Gunners right now, and their attempts to keep Fabregas are just about finished if the Catalans are successful in selling their players.
To add insult to injury, Premiership rivals Chelsea are getting in on the action of Barca's "yard sale" in an attempt to replace Michael Essien.
If the Blues are successful, it will go a long way in helping Barcelona fund the move for Fabregas, and it also helps the West London club at the same time.
The Gunners are in a tight spot here, but it at least looks like the Fabregas saga is coming to an end in the next week.
